Robert Pattinson cameo in «The Penguin»
Scenario
Following the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, makes a play to take over the reins of crime in Gotham. Except for the bat signal in the last shot of the season finale, we never got ours. In this short video, IMDb tries to answer: Where the hell was Batman?. Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of The Penguin to smoke in The Batman (2022), but it didn’t work out.
Totally hit the tone and mood
However, in his own series, the character is depicted as an occasional smoker who prefers cigars. The DC Studios logo takes place in a rainy Gotham alley. The umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros logo. Performing on The Graham Norton Show: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024).
Where to start with Farrell
Gritty, dirty and dark, but Farrell manages to capture the charm of Gandolfini’s Tony Soprano. The sopranos have similarities, especially in tones. There’s a lot going dark in this opening sequence, but there are still comedic moments that fit the tone and don’t detract from it. Amazing is the right word.
And Farrell as an actor is completely immersed in this role
It’s great to see talented star actors take on roles like this, and the makeup/cgi or whatever they did to physically transform him into a penguin not only passes the eye test, but looks incredibly realistic. There is always the risk that if the make-up job is not good enough or just a little worse, it can completely distract. In Penguin, it adds to his performance and the overall quality of the show because it’s such a damn good job. I may be a little biased because he was one of my favorite actors before this show, but I think this will give him the accolades he deserves.
Didn’t disappoint, actually surprised me
I never tune in to new shows right away because I like watching. episodes at once, but I wanted to see how this really came out. Thanks to everyone involved in this project.
